| 概要 | BACKGROUND: Genome editing of human embryos using CRISPR/Cas9 could prevent the transmission of hereditary diseases, but the attitudes of genetic professionals remain insufficiently examined. This study surveyed Japanese clinical geneticists and certified genetic counselors regarding this technology.
RESULTS: Differences emerged regarding the technology's recognition, difficulty, and cost. Both groups worried about misuse due to insufficient information and regulations, identifying ethics, safety, and purpose as key regulatory elements. While most disapproved of physical enhancement, they supported treating severe diseases. Currently, professionals maintain a prudent attitude, mentioning genome editing only as a future possibility. CONCLUSIONS: Academic policies, legislation, and public consensus are required for embryo application. Professionals must stay updated to refine rules, education, and clinical protocols, while creating opportunities to address ethical issues. |
