| 概要 | AIM: This study aimed to describe the characteristics of women with twin pregnancies undergoing NIPT, along with postpartum and neonatal outcomes in Japan.
METHODS: We reviewed twin pregnancy cases that underwent NIPT using massively parallel sequencing at Nagoya City University Hospital between April 2013 and June 2016. Questionnaires were completed pre-NIPT and postpartum. RESULTS: Of 4,009 women undergoing NIPT, 75 (1.9%) had twin pregnancies. Fifteen (20.0%) experienced vanishing twin/fetal death at <22 weeks, while 60 (80.0%) had normal twin pregnancies at genetic counseling. NIPT use correlated with increased assisted reproductive technology use. The test performed well, showing a 1.7% false-positive rate and zero false negatives. CONCLUSION: NIPT demonstrated high performance in twin pregnancies. Its efficacy should be explained during genetic counseling for twins, though larger studies are required to confirm reliability and validity. |
