| 概要 | AIM: This study summarizes a survey on genetic counseling awareness among Japanese pregnant women seeking NIPT.
METHODS: As part of the Japan NIPT Consortium study, questionnaires were administered twice: after pre-test counseling and when results were reported. Responses from 7,292 women were analyzed. RESULTS: Overall, 94% of respondents were satisfied with the genetic counseling system, and its perceived necessity increased over time. Genetic counseling by skilled clinicians was highly valued. Most women (90%) felt they had sufficient opportunity to consider the test beforehand. However, women with positive results reported lower satisfaction and a poorer opinion. CONCLUSIONS: Pre-test genetic counseling provides pregnant women with a sufficient opportunity to consider prenatal testing, improves understanding, and facilitates informed decision-making. However, a more careful and thorough approach is necessary for women receiving positive results. |
