概要	AIM: This study evaluated the backgrounds of couples undergoing NIPT in Japan.METHODS: Characteristics of 2,486 women at Nagoya City University Hospital were compared with Japanese Demographic Trends.RESULTS: Compared with controls, the NIPT group had more women $\ge$ 4 years older than their partners (11.8% vs 6.5%). Maternal age at marriage (32.6 vs 29.3 years), age at first live birth (36.9 vs 30.4 years), and time from marriage to first birth (3.6 vs 2.4 years) were greater in the NIPT group. Assisted reproductive technology use was also higher (35–39 years: 21.2% vs 7.5%; 40–45 years: 36.2% vs 12.6%).CONCLUSION: Understanding these specific parental backgrounds is crucial for optimizing genetic counseling in NIPT.
