| 概要 | OBJECTIVE: This study assessed attitudes and clinical issues regarding non-invasive prenatal diagnosis (NIPD) among pregnant women and health professionals in Japan.
METHODS: A mail-in survey evaluated attitudes, concerns, and expectations regarding NIPD. RESULTS: Based on 252 responses, pregnant women held more positive attitudes toward NIPD than health professionals, with notable discrepancies between the groups. Lower NIPD knowledge correlated with more positive attitudes toward its clinical application. Clinical geneticists expressed concern about performing NIPD when knowledge is lacking. All health professionals emphasized the necessity of pre- and post-test genetic counseling. CONCLUSION: Pregnant women prioritize the safety and non-invasiveness of NIPD, whereas medical professionals focus on diagnostic accuracy. Professionals warned that NIPD might often be performed without adequate patient knowledge or proper counseling. |
