概要	Aspiration pneumonia is associated with various complications and organ dysfunction in elderly patients, who thus have a high mortality rate. In the management of aspiration pneumonia, the prevention of aspiration is important, in addition to rapid and accurate diagnosis and treatment. This requires a joint effort by not only the physicians- including geriatric, infectious disease, and pulmonary specialists-but also the other medical staff, such as dentists, nutritionists, and physical therapists.
